Research Explorer Ruhr
Explore your Postdoc Opportunities in the Ruhr Area
Research Explorer Ruhr (RER) is a program for international early postdoctoral researchers (to-be) interested in exploring the research landscape of the University Alliance Ruhr.
Changes in 2021 due to COVID
Due to the special circumstances regarding the pandemic, this year's program will take place under special conditions. Instead of the two-week summer program on-site,
RER 2021 will be a 1+1 week hybrid event:
- September to December:
Virtual exchanges with RUB researchers about your potential postdoc project
- December 6–10, 2021:
Virtual workshops on funding and research opportunities
In case of mutual interest of participant and host, individual, follow-up invitations to Bochum in 2022 (depending on the pandemic situation).
The basic concept of the Research Explorer Ruhr remains in place:
Join in and explore research opportunities at our excellent chairs and institutes. Benefit from workshops on postdoc funding schemes and research career options in Germany! Virtual networking and excursions will help you become acquainted with the thriving Ruhr Area as a potential place to work and live. Please note that this year, only researchers of Ruhr-Universität Bochum act as hosts.
Research Explorer Ruhr gives you the opportunity to invite interesting international early postdoctoral researchers (to-be) to a two-week stay at your university. Research Academy Ruhr will cover travel and accommodation costs.
In addition to an introduction to the German research system, the accompanying program will also include a workshop to successfully raise funds for a postdoctoral position. If these guests wish to return as postdocs, the candidates themselves are responsible for obtaining the appropriate funds and scholarships.
All organizational questions and planning with the guests are handled by Research Academy Ruhr so that you can concentrate on joint research questions or projects. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Jörn Benzinger.
Please note: For organizational reasons related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year international candidates can only apply to be matched with a host at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Also, this year's Research Explorer will take place as a 1+1 week hybrid event.
